Job Description: FIRETRUCK MECHANIC/ EMERGENCY VEHICLE TECHNICIAN/HEAVY TRUCK MECHANIC

First Priority Emergency Vehicles growing fire truck service department is in need of motivated, hard working mechanic.

POSITION SUMMARY: Full time + the possibility of overtime. Emergency Vehicle Technician trained and experienced in maintenance and repair firefighting equipment and emergency vehicles, including fire engines, aerials, tankers, rescue, foam systems, pumps and generators. Position to be filled is for a shop and/or road technician, who will be making repairs and performing preventive maintenance in one of our Manchester facility. New Jersey shop locations are in Flanders and Manchester.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Diagnose, repair and maintain firefighting emergency vehicles systems including but not limited to Chassis, pump, foam systems, aerial device, hydraulic and diesel generators.
  • Must possess computer skills including ability to use email, Microsoft word, and internet searches.
  • Driver license required; Class B or higher commercial driver license is a plus.
  • EVT/ASE certifications and Hale/Waterous pump training a plus.
  • Must have tools needed to perform the variety of repairs listed above.
  • Normal work hours are 7:00am-3:30pm but must have flexibility to work overtime when needed.
  • Maintain repair logs and email them to office daily.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift/push/pull heavy loads, often more than 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods, i.e. full work day.
  • Must have the ability to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Must have the ability to work safely in a hazardous environment.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
